The Midway has the most complete cross-section of carrier aviation in the world with more than 30 restored aircraft and nearly 10 acres of exhbits and displays.
The Midway is recruiting for its Exhbits Team. The volunteers' duties include: surface prep (masking, priming, sanding and or fillers), painting, and clean up. Projects will be using almost exclusively water-based paints but may be asked to use epoxy or other oil-based paints. PPP will be provided where necessary. Projects may include collaboration with engineering and ships restoration team members.
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
Time Commitment: Volunteers are asked to serve 10 hours per month minimum, weekday mornings. Schedule is flexible. A commitment of 6 months is required.
Required Skills/Experience: Candidates must have some prior experience with painting, and preferably some familiarity with oil-based vs water-based paint. Some training will be provided, but prior experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Ability to climb ships ladders and lift 20 pounds.

Description
The USS Midway Museum opened to the public in June 2004 and today is one of San Diego’s most popular visitor attractions with world wide audience. The naval aircraft carrier was commissioned in 1945 and served for 47 years supporting U.S. military and humanitarian efforts around the world. Nearly 250,000 sailors and officers served their country aboard the USS Midway before it was decommissioned (retired) in 1992. Museum includes more than 60 audio tour stops including nearly 30 aircraft ranging from the WWII era to today's technology in Naval aviation. Come be a part of this 'city at sea'!
