As a volunteer serving meals within St. Paul's Sholom Home and part of Optage Senior Dining Congregate meal program volunteers will work with culinary staff at Sholom Home and serve a nutritious meal to the residents within. Know that to many; these Monday- Friday noon meals are so much more than nutrition. It is a time for them to interact with others. Some of the participants in our food program may only get out of their apartments once a day for this meal. The food served is prepped within the commercial kitchen at Sholom and the responsibility of the volunteer would be to disperse/serve the meal to each resident on the meal program. This role could be a dine in or take out type setting. Hours for this opportunity are as follows:
Monday- Friday 11:45-1:00pm.

Volunteers are highly encouraged to become vaccinated for both influenza and COVID-19. If you are above the age of 18 and having issues finding an appointment on your own, we may be able to administer the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to you. Please speak to your volunteer director at the community or program that you volunteer with or email volunteering@preshomes.org. Due to the vulnerability of our residents, unvaccinated volunteers may be asked to participate in opportunities that have limited interaction with residents. Opportunities available may vary by community and program.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to enriching lives.

About Optage the Service Division of Presbyterian Homes and Services

Location:

2845 Hamline Ave N, Roseville, MN 55113, US

Mission Statement

To honor God by enriching the lives and touching the hearts of older adults.

Description

Optage Hospice provides compassionate care that focuses on comfort, quality and support for individuals with life-limiting illness, their families and caregivers.

Optage Hospice Volunteers can serve in their community at any of our Presbyterian Homes and Services locations.

For our volunteers, there are a variety of opportunities to assist with our hospice patients. Some examples are: reading; writing letters; painting nails or doing hair; household tasks; wheelchair walks; socializing; pet therapy; music therapy; message therapy.

Just as 1 Corinthians 12 talks about many parts, but one body, each of our volunteers have many jobs, but one purpose - and that is to give back some of the blessings they have been given. We can (and do!) count the number of volunteers who have served, the number of hours that have been given, and even translate those hours into dollars. What is truly immeasurable is the difference that each of the volunteers has made to the residents and staff members. Presbyterian Homes is known for our Christian culture and high quality of life. This reputation has been built and grown over the years due to the volunteers and how they have faithfully served.
