The SPCA of Texas is recruiting Mobile Event Volunteers. These volunteers are required to be 10 or older to volunteer. Anyone under 15 is required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 21 years old. Parent/guardian and child will work together as a team. Volunteers 10 to 11 years old are restricted to non-animal handling opportunities. Volunteers 12 and older will be allowed to handle the animals after training.
Animal Handling Volunteers
Your very first shift will be an animal handling training at our Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 Farm to Market Rd 878, Waxahachie, TX 75165). After training you will be eligible to sign up as an animal handling volunteer at mobile events.
Mobile animal handling volunteers will help with animal handling, merchandise sales, and adoption counseling (additional training is needed for adoption counseling). Volunteer days and times will vary based on the event, but are typically on the weekends.
Non-Animal Handling Volunteers
Volunteers will complete a volunteer account and send us a photo for a volunteer badge. Once their account has been processed you will receive an email confirmation that you are ready to get started. You will then be eligible to sign up for non-animal handling mobile events. During your first mobile event, you will receive your volunteer t-shirt and ID badge. Volunteer days and times will vary based on the event, but are typically on the weekends.
About SPCA of Texas
2400 Lone Star Dr., Dallas, TX 75212, US
The SPCA of Texas is dedicated to providing every animal exceptional care and a loving home.
The SPCA of Texas is the leading animal welfare agency in North Texas. We operate two animal shelters, located near downtown Dallas and in McKinney, which, together with our community partners for offsite adoptions, find homes for more than 6,000 animals each year. We do not euthanize animals for lack of space and we do not place time limits on animals housed in our shelters. We also operate public veterinary clinics in West Dallas, South Oak Cliff and McKinney to provide high-quality pet care at affordable prices and we collaborate with community partners to spay or neuter tens of thousands of animals each year.
In a typical year, our five-member Rescue and Investigations team responds to 2,000 calls and rescues more than 1,000 abandoned or cruelly treated animals in 8 North Texas counties. Our education and outreach programs reach more than 20,000 Texans each year with a message of compassion and responsibility.
Our independent non-profit organization is not affiliated with the ASPCA or any other humane society and we do not receive taxpayer funding. Your support helps us make life better for more than 50,000 animals and the people who love them - right here in our community.
