We are currently seeking compassionate and talented individuals to serve as Hospice Music Volunteers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of terminally ill patients and their families through the power of music. Your role as a Hospice Music Volunteer will be to provide emotional support, comfort, and companionship to patients during their end-of-life journey.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform live music for hospice patients in their homes or healthcare facilities.
  2. Create a soothing and peaceful environment through music.
  3. Tailor the music selection to the preferences and needs of each individual patient.
  4. Engage in active listening and conversation with patients to provide emotional support.
  5. Respect and honor the cultural, religious, and personal beliefs of patients and their families.
  6. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy regulations.
  7. Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  1. A passion for music and a strong desire to help others.
  2. Proficiency in playing an instrument(s) or singing.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Ability to empathize with patients and families in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
  5. Reliable, punctual, and committed to the volunteer schedule.
  6. Respectful of diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
  7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements:

  1. Must be at least 17 years old.
  2. Completion of BCI, drug screen and TB test - all covered by Capital City Hospice.
  3. Availability to commit to a minimum number of hours per week or month. We work around your schedule.
  4. Reliable transportation to travel to patient locations.

  • Volunteers are asked to commit to a regular weekly or Bi - monthly schedule to visit patients - Volunteer visits can be built around whatever time you have to give! We try to place volunteers within a 15 to 20 minute radius to where they live.
  • Our patients are a diverse community, from all walks of life, and differing backgrounds. You may work with many diverse faith backgrounds. We are looking for people who will honor their patients beliefs and support them living their best lives.
