Please note: This opportunity is only open to people living in the UK. We will only accept applications with a UK postcode

We are looking for dedicated individuals who want to have a role in our small but growing charity. This is an opportunity to gain an insight into the running of the charity. We recruit individuals based upon your personal interests and skills. We will then assign you to responsibilities which compliment your skills. This is a voluntary role, which will enable you to help many members of the community, which can be very rewarding.

Founded in late 2017, London Autism Group Charity is dedicated to helping anyone with an interest in Autism, in London and neighbouring Counties.

We support the Mental Health and well-being of Autistic people and carers. We do this with a wide variety of advice, support and material help.

We Campaign to reduce Autism Stigma and promote Autism Acceptance.

We aim to provide support at every stage of an Autistic person's life.

Our main services are listed here: https://www.londonautismgroupcharity.org/what-we-do

Volunteering Roles:

1.

One very popular service that we provide is a Befriending scheme for Autistic people.

Can you spare a few minutes of your time each week to exchange messages with an isolated Autistic person?

Our Befriending scheme pairs someone with one of our volunteers. Contact is made using a method that the person is comfortable with and procedes at their own pace. This may start with emails or messages using whatsapp.

The aim is to offer social contact to isolated people in the Autistic community. Many friendships have been formed in this way, which have developed in wonderful ways.

If you are interested and wish to join the scheme as a charity volunteer, please do email us using: contact@londonautismgroupcharity.org

2.

Another important service that we provide is monthly community cafe meetup sessions for the entire Autistic Community in key areas of London. Currently these are listed on our website: https://www.londonautismgroupcharity.org/community-cafes

We are looking to set up more community cafe locations in different areas of London, to support the local Autistic Community.

3.

Our Charity is often the first port of call for Autistic people and their families when they are looking for help. We need people with admin experience to help answer emails and to direct people to appropriate support.
With kind compassionate volunteers, we can provide people find the support they need.

If you are interested in being part of our endeavours, we would love to hear from you.

Please see our website for more information and go to our Volunteering page to receive an application form.

Description

London Autism Group is a charity dedicated to helping anyone in London and its neighbouring Boroughs with an interest in Autism. We began with a Facebook group, to offer advice and support to those who came to us. It is now a thriving hub for the London Autistic Community where people can come to seek assistance with whatever questions they have, or to connect with other similar members of the Community.
At London Autism Group Charity, we bring a wide range of targeted support, to eventually offer help at every stage of an Autistic person's life.
With the dedication of our volunteers, staff members, and partners, we strive to improve the lives of everyone who needs help within our community.
