Good afternoon!
We are so excited to inform you that we are getting ready to start our Winter 2022 Counselor Advocate Training! You are receiving this email because you have expressed interest previously about participating in this training. I have attached an application to this email - please fill it out and send it back to me when you can. We will discontinue accepting applications by January 12, 2022. Please make sure to send yours in by that date.
Thank you for sharing an interest in wanting to become a Peace Over Violence Volunteer. At Peace over Violence, we recognize the value of volunteers within the agency, but especially as advocates to survivors. This is a life-changing experience, not only for the trainees, but also for those of us who train you. Peace Over Violence’s Counselor-Advocate Training and volunteer work is very intense, yet incredibly rewarding.
Attached you will find an application for the volunteer program available within the Intervention Division. Please take a look at page 3 for an overview of the roles, and responsibilities to that specific program. Information on training dates for our Winter 2022 training and how to submit your application is right below:
Training Days: Wednesdays 6:30pm-9:30pm (Via Zoom, virtual) and Saturdays 9am-5pm (in-person, at Downtown LA office)
***Proof of vaccination will be required to participate in this training being that there are days that the training will take place in-person, for the safety of yourself and others.
Start Date: January 26, 2022
Graduation: March 23, 2022 (no training on 2/19/2022 due to President's Day Weekend)

Peace Over Violence (formerly the Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women) is a non-profit, feminist; multicultural, volunteer organization dedicated to a building healthy relationships, families and communities free from sexual, domestic and interpersonal violence.
Description
Peace Over Violence is a social service agency dedicated to the elimination of sexual and domestic violence and all forms of interpersonal violence.
We provide crisis intervention services and violence prevention education. One on one, we listen, counsel, support, guide and work to heal survivors of violence. One by one, we teach teens about healthy relationships, train girls in self-defense, instruct boys in conflict resolution, and advise on public policy. We organize and we advocate. Not only do we believe--we know that violence is preventable.
