The Commoner is a non-profit and non-partisan media outlet. We are searching for writers and editors interested in writing local, national, and international news in a manner that prioritizes the voice of the average person.:

Authors are expected to submit at least one article per month on politics, lifestyle, sports, or other topics. Our pieces are usually around 700 and 1500 words, but authors can be as inventive as they want in their writing.

The position is available to people from all writing backgrounds! Our staff ranges from veteran journalists with 30 years of experience to people with no background in journalism. We are a learning environment, so we always train new journalists regardless of their experiences.

We pride ourselves on building a welcoming environment, so please feel free to reach out to our team!

Mission Statement

Our mission to bring compassion and common ground to the media. We do not believe that political parties or the mainstream media accurately represent the average person. Description

The Commoner is a non-profit, non-partisan news outlet dedicated to reflecting the opinions and concerns of the common people. The voices of those who fall outside of elite - the majority - are often drowned out in a global media landscape dominated by big money and political polarization. The Commoner serves as a platform for these voices By covering local, national, and international news. We also promote sports journalism and community discussions. Lastly, we will eventually launch an educational project to teach young people how to become journalists for free.
