SHELTERS TO SHUTTERS

Volunteer Opportunity

Mentor an Individual or Family Transitioning Out of Homelessness

Quick Overview

Many clients come into our program feeling overwhelmed. A mentor would greatly increase their chances of success during this transition. Each client will be matched with a volunteer mentor, and the mentor will meet with the client approximately twice a month (or more if needed). The purpose of the mentor/mentee relationship would be to work collaboratively towards any short or long term goals (buying a car, getting a GED, enrolling in community college). A supportive person can work wonders in a person’s life.

Impact

Mentors play an incredibly supportive role in the lives of the individuals and families they serve. You will walk with the family as they reach their financial, educational, and job-readiness goals and stabilize their lives after homelessness.

Requirements

Mentors must be over the age of 25. Computer literacy skills are required. We will walk you through the application process and all other program requirements at the info session.
