Hello! We are the Adult Learners Program at Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC).

We are seeking volunteers who can help adult learners with reading, writing, math and/or basic computer skills for 90 minutes once a week. The adult learners who serve are generally below the 9th grade level equivalent and come with a range of goals.

You will tutor him/her at our main office in Ravenswood or at a local library convenient to you and the learner.

Most tutoring at JARC's main office (Ravenswood) takes place Mondays-Thursdays from 9am- 5pm. Tutoring also takes place in the evenings or weekends at JARC's location in west Humboldt Park and at local libraries.

All JARC ALPS volunteers are provided with 12 hours of training before they begin with a learner and with curriculum to use with their learner.

Perks of volunteering include opportunities for free professional development through Literacy Works, Chicago Citywide Literacy Coalition and other organizations.

To get started you attend an info session with the Adult Learners Program Coordinator, Cat Pumphrey.

If this opportunity sounds like a good match for you or if you would like more info feel free to email me at mariz@jane-addams.org.

Thanks!
