Our Office Assistant volunteers help provide excellent customer service to visitors to the shelter, help staff with important paperwork, and answer phones and direct calls to the appropriate person during the morning hours before Adoption staff arrive.

Volunteers in this role should plan on having:

  • A kind and appropriate attitude towards members of our community who are in need
  • Strong knowledge of the Roanoke Valley’s SPCA’s mission and goals
  • Familiarity with staff roles so you can appropriately direct calls
  • Comfortable talking on the phone
  • Ability to use Google Calendar
  • Openness to help with other duties as directed that lead to the enrichment of the lives of the animals in our care and the community members we serve

1 Shift

  • morning / 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM
    Shifts available daily!

We’re working to create a community where there are no homeless cats or dogs through the power of adoption, prevention and intervention.

Description

The Roanoke Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ("RVSPCA") limited intake, adoption and education center. We provide a safe and loving home for animals for as long as they need it. Only those animals suffering from conditions that are beyond help are ever euthanized.

The RVSPCA's is working to create a community where there are no homeless cats or dogs through the power of adoption, prevention and intervention.

ADOPTION
We work to bring animals and people together.

PREVENTION
We maintain that spaying, neutering and humane education are the solutions to homeless animals.

INTERVENTION
We provide services that address financial hardships, medical problems and behavioral challenges to enable animals to stay in their homes or be adopted.
