Did you know that 80% of the kittens in animal shelters nation-wide come from outdoor roaming cats? OR that a female kitten can get pregnant at 4 months of age? We believe the key to lowering that number of unwanted cats is spaying and neutering.
The Community Cat Crew is a group of a-meow-zing volunteers who use a process called Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to bring outdoor cats who are feral - AKA unsocialized and uncomfortable with humans - to the vet so they can get spayed or neutered and vaccinated for rabies. Then, assuming the cat is healthy, they return them to their outdoor home. Most of these cats have a human caretaker who looks out for them and is very excited to have the cats go to the vet and come right back home! Some of these kitties even visit multiple houses and have multiple pet parents!
We are in need of volunteers to assist with humanely trapping cats and transport to/from the vet. We also need volunteers to help network with cat caretakers, explain TNR to neighbors at trapping locations, and help with other miscellaneous prep work for our cat crew.
