Want to make a difference?
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP works with a handful of organizations that both directly and indirectly help people with Alzheimer's and other dementias. Whether you would like to serve remotely by leading a support group, designing programming for and/or facilitating social engagement events, or speaking via webinar, you can make a difference. Alternatively, if you would prefer something in-person, consider greeting guests and directing them to training rooms, assembling helpline packets and outreach materials, tabling, speaking, or performing any number of clerical tasks (ie. answering phones and entering data into Microsoft Excel). (Please note that not all of the above described positions may be available at the time of your inquiry.)

Mission Statement
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic, and political opportunities.
Description
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, our program is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 of us which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
