Organization Background: Family Assistance Ministries (FAM) is a faith-based charitable non-profit organization assisting those in need in Orange County with resources for food, shelter, and personalized supportive counsel and aid, helping clients bridge the gap from dependency to self-sufficiency. FAM provides food, shelter, and client aid to tens of thousands in Orange County. We provide financial assistance for rent, utilities, transportation, medical, dental, and prescription drugs, as well as financial counseling, free income tax preparation and collaboration with other social services organizations to provide referrals and medical screenings, immunizations and much more!

About the Position: Family Assistance Ministries (FAM) seeks to attract Leadership volunteers for its Board who contribute their time, talent and treasure and promote FAM and it's work in the community. FAM is currently governed by a board representing a variety of professions, areas of expertise, and communities throughout the region, click HERE to learn more. Examples of desired attributes:

A commitment in representing and promoting FAM's faith-based mission and fundraising efforts throughout the community with Personal and Professional ethics and integrity

Strategic & Innovative Leaders with expertise in at least one of the following areas: Financial management, entrepreneurship, business law, development/fundraising, human resources

Specific duties of the Board include:

Attend Board meetings every month held third Thursday from 6-7:30 pm, participate in minimum one (1) Committee meeting as requested, and attend FAM sponsored events annually

Develop, approve and evaluate goals and objectives to further the organization's mission

Ensure the financial accountability for the organization

Demonstrate a commitment to fundraising by making personal contributions and/or leadership in securing donations from others. A typical gift commitment is $5,000 per year.
