Friendly Chat

During the pandemic all of us have experienced some social isolation and many of us have experienced significant loneliness. Even before COVID-19 hit, an estimated 43% of older adults in the U.S. felt lonely on a regular basis.

Our Friendly Chat program can use your help! More than half of the older adults Meals on Wheels People serves live alone.

A phone call from you gives participants a warm and friendly connection as well as being able to check in on their wellbeing. After a short online training, you can sign up on your schedule to call 5-6 people using our mobile phone application. Connect over travel, books, pets, hobbies-just have a chat with someone who needs one!

Volunteers must be 18+ years old, have a smart phone, and be comfortable using mobile phone applications.
