YWCA Dayton

YWCA Dayton is seeking Marketing and Communications Volunteers to assist our staff in promoting the mission, program, and advocacy work of YW. This position will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications and also work closely with other YWCA Dayton staff and volunteers.

HOURS:

~5-10 hours per month. Schedule negotiable and flexible. Some evenings/weekends are required for special events.

COMPENSATION:

This is a volunteer position, but may be eligible for college or community service credits.

LOCATION:

This is a remote volunteer position. Some onsite work to capture photos/videos or help with events required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Outreach

  • Intake and confirmation/rejection of community presentation requests in consultation with staff.
  • Gather logistical information (location, time, audience, etc.) in advance of presentations
  • Schedule coordination of staff assigned to presentations
  • Collect handouts, signage, giveaways, etc., for assigned staff; maintain inventory of materials
  • Track presentations and produce reports

Social Media Engagement

  • Track social media trends, best practices, and industry news; provide recommendations
  • Build YWCA Dayton social media audiences through follows, likes, conversations, etc.
  • Take photos/videos, draft copy, and prepare posts for staff to disseminate

Marketing & Communications

  • Take photos/videos and draft/proofread copy for YWCA Dayton blog, website, annual report, informational handouts, advertisements, and press releases/media advisories
  • Assist with design and writing of monthly e-newsletter(s) and other email messages
  • Assist with informational handout and mailing preparation as needed
Skills:
  • Creative self-starter who thrives working independently and has a passion for mission-based storytelling
  • Ability to concurrently handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Proven high level of professionalism and poise during interpersonal interactions.
  • Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office, Adobe CS, WordPress, Canva, and social media.
  • Discretion regarding confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and championing of the organizational mission and vision.
