About San Francisco AIDS Foundation

Location:

1035 Market Street, suite 400, San Francisco, CA 94103, US

Mission Statement

The San Francisco AIDS Foundation was founded in 1982 in San Francisco's Castro district as an emergency response to a quickly emerging health crisis. Its primary purpose was simply to assemble and disseminate critical information to gay men who were being diagnosed with a rare and frightening cancer. Today, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation is firmly established as a global leader in the fight against AIDS. With an annual budget of $18 million, over 100 employees, 450 volunteers and 150,000 individuals served in 1998, the AIDS Foundation continues to face daunting challenges at every turn with compassion, dignity and a sense of purpose.

Description

Volunteers will be working onsite at Levi's Plaza to help SFAF in their efforts to keep their clients healthy. Converting bulk supplies to individual sizes is a never ending job that the SFAF relies heavily on volunteers for. Work will involve putting together snack packs as well as making-up small packs of both Vitamin C powder and cotton balls. All of these items will be handed out at mobile clinics that SFAF runs several times a week around San Francisco.
