This specific event will take place at High School for C.T.E.A.

FIRST Tech Challenge
is looking for volunteer Judges and Referees for our 2021-22 events! If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer, please follow the steps listed below and share the information with anyone interested.

Judges interview the students from high school robotics teams on the design, construction and operation of their robot - as well as team operations.

Referees observe the robot competition matches, apply the game rules, assess penalties, and score match results.

- Training and food is provided for all volunteer roles
- All volunteers must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination
- Volunteers must be 21+


HOW TO APPLY:

  1. Register for a FIRST account at firstinspires.org
  2. Click the Volunteer Registration tab & choose 'Volunteer at an Event’
  3. Filter events by location/program and select an event. Choose your desired roles and apply.
  4. Review all the training materials for your role and take the short certification for our records.
  5. FIRST strives to create an environment in which team members can grow, learn, and have fun with minimal risk of injury. In order to achieve this, please be cognizant of your Youth Protection Program Requirements and ensure that you go through the entire process.

Description

New York City FIRST is a regional office of FIRST - the international 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to inspire youth to pursue studies and careers in science and technology and to help students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in the technologically-driven global economy.

FIRST programs all share two basic components:

  • engagement of students in the creative, hands-on, minds-on process of technological innovation
  • bring communities together to celebrate the achievements of kids working in science and technology.
FIRST's PROGRAMS
  • FIRST Robotics Competition (grades 9-12, ages 14-18)
  • FIRST Tech Challenge (grades 7-12, ages 12-18)
  • FIRST Lego League (grades Pre-K-8, ages 4-16)
As an NYC FIRST Volunteer, one can:
  • Serve as team coaches and develop a robotics team with exclusive access to national FIRST curriculum and program guides.
  • Provide one-day volunteer support at local NYC FIRST competitions.
  • Donate space to NYC robotics teams.
