What are the different ways you can volunteer?
PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS
Love spending time with our participants? Are you into fitness, cooking, drama and music? We need program leads and volunteers! Passionate about sharing the skill of math and reading? Tutors needed for both math and reading programs. Training provided-no experience necessary. We will give you all the tools you need to be successful.
MARKETING SUPPORT
Are you skilled in social media, marketing, copywriting, blogging, press releases and outreach? GiGi’s needs YOU and your knowledge!
MAINTENANCE
Is your specialty gardening and seasonal planters? Are you into interior design? What about attention to detail-can you monitor our website weekly or help with inventory? We have many areas that could use your talents.
EVENTS
Love to spend time with our participants but only can volunteer occasionally? Our monthly events would be perfect for you! We also need volunteers for our fundraisers like our gala and fitness events and planning service projects for our participants.
GRANT WRITING/CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP
Do you have a knack for persuasive writing? We are always looking for support in finding and writing grants. Do you know an organization that is looking for a giving opportunity? We have a corporate sponsorship committee that needs members who can network and bring opportunities to the Playhouse.
SKILL-BASED VOLUNTEERING
Consider yourself a subject matter expert in an area that could benefit GiGi’s families? We would love for you to share your knowledge in areas such as transition to adulthood, housing ideas for participants, special needs trusts -or any other ideas are welcome.

Mission Statement
GiGi’s Playhouse was created to change the way the world views a Down syndrome diagnosis and send a global message of acceptance for all. We understand that many families are first time parents and they need us. Many young parents do not expect, or know in advance of their child’s diagnosis, and they need renewed hope and genuine acceptance from day one. At GiGi’s Playhouse families are never alone. From a prenatal diagnosis to career skills, we make a lifetime commitment to remain by their side. Families are empowered with all the tools their child needs to succeed!
Description
Back in the summer of 2002, Nancy Gianni gave birth to her beautiful daughter, GiGi. She quickly realized that GiGi could do the very same things that her other children do! What began as a mother's vision to change perception, and maximize her daughter's successes, has evolved into a global movement of acceptance. Nancy needed to get GiGi, and her other children, ready for the world ahead - and get the world ready for GiGi!
The very first Playhouse was created to be an inspirational and dedicated place for families to celebrate their child and benefit from free, purposeful programs that unleash joy, confidence and continuous improvement. More than 48 Playhouses empower children and adults to achieve their "Best of All" and to pursue their dreams.
The GiGi's Playhouse-Twin Cities opened in 2013 after a group of dedicated of Founding Moms decided they wanted a Playhouse in the Twin Cities area. They raised the funds needed, found volunteers, and connected with families with individuals with Down syndrome. Since 2013 GiGi's Playhouse-Twin Cities has been serving the 7 country metro area as well as western Wisconsin. We provide free, progressive, and purposeful programs for all ages. We make a lifelong commitment to our participants and their families.
