Mission Statement
The mission of the CAPE Council is the prevention of child abuse and neglect through increased public awareness and education.
Description
Founded in 1982, the Char-Em Cape Council is celebrating 40 years of providing child abuse prevention and education to the Charlevoix and Emmet County community. Our main event is an annual spring conference during Child Abuse Prevention month (April) which attracts over 200 professionals from the education, administration, medical and social work community. We have also donated safe sleep sacks to area hospitals (700 donated in 2021) given to all newborns to keep babies safe as well as Love of Laundry events that offered free laundry nights to the community. This year we are adding Traveling Baby showers to pregnant and new parents to learn about safe sleep and car seat safety.
