Description
A Girl Like Me, Inc. is a 501(c)(3), IRS-certified non-profit organization dedicated to providing health education, basic needs items, and support to teen and young moms ages 13-25 years old. We also have a mentorship program for young ladies ages 11-17 years old that focuses on health education and community service. Our whole mission is focused on reducing teen-related pregnancy through education centered around sexual and reproductive health. As a 15 year old, I found myself pregnant and very confused. So much so I didn't tell anyone until just a few days before I delivered my daughter. Ill-prepared with no real plan, my mother and our immediate community supported me and I was able to overcome all the stereotypes that usually become barriers for young ladies in similar situations. Because of the support I received, I made it my goal to formally create an organization that created the same community for girls that found themselves in similar situations, girls just like me. We are asking for your support whether it's donations of needed items or monetary donations to support the continued replenishment of our community pantry. We provide the moms and young ladies in our program with basic needs items such as diapers, wipes, formula, hygiene products such as pads, tampons, soap, and deodorant, and at times baby gear completely free of charge.
