Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: San Diego Canyonlands

47th Street Friends Group

Our monthly habitat restoration will be on December 11, from 8 to 11 am, in North Rueda Canyon. Meet at trailhead by Tierrasanta Blvd and Rueda Drive (northwest corner). Street parking on Rueda Drive. We will remove non natives such as eucalyptus saplings and horehound. Depending on what you want to work on, we recommend 1) shoes that won't slip for the eucalyptus saplings located on a slope or 2) kneeling pad for the horehound at ground level. See attached map. Our next event will be January 8, 2022. Volunteers are requested to wear long pants, long sleeves, hats, and closed toe footwear. We also recommend bringing a mask, work gloves and a refillable water bottle. The Friends will provide tools and water for refilling your water bottle. Please note that all volunteers vaccinated or not, are requested to wear a mask if social distancing cannot be maintained. If volunteers are not comfortable wearing a mask, they will be asked to work at least 6 feet from others.

If you are planning to bring a group of five or more people, let me know so that we can ensure there are enough tools. All volunteers will need to sign a waiver form which will be available at sign-in. If you are bringing a child/youth under the age of 18, please have the parent or legal guardian complete the attached waiver form ahead of time.

We appreciate any time that you can spend with us whether it is one hour or three hours. We can provide community hour documentation if desired. For more info about future events, email FriendsOfTSCanyons@ gmail.com, see the "Friends of Tierrasanta Canyons" Facebook page, or check out the calendar at sdcanyonlands.org.
