An in-person opportunity to BE present and provide community connection to vulnerable adults who are trying to get their lives back on track. Whether handing a resident a sack lunch on their way out the door in the morning, handing out supplies, or greeting residents as they return from job hunting or a day at work, you will be a vital human connection for residents of our East Valley Men's Center.


By assisting in the Resident’s check-in/out process and attending to details of a safe clean environment, volunteers contribute to shelter residents’ well-being while freeing up shelter employees to conduct their mission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  1. Monitor residents as they check in and out of the Shelter using entry/exit protocols.
  2. Assist with communication and directions when visitors enter the Shelter.
  3. Clean, sanitize and organize the Check-In and lobby areas and complete shift task list.
  4. Answer and route phone calls
  5. Handout meals as appropriate and manage "basic needs" store
  6. Participate and successfully complete all required trainings A New Leaf deems necessary
  7. Maintain standards of confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  8. Adhere to codes of conduct and standards as specified in Volunteer Handbook
  9. Additional tasks may be requested as per program needs


  • Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card & DES Central Registry Background Check
  • Must be able to follow directions & maintain consistent reliable attendance
  • Pay attention to detail, have ability to multi-task while providing good customer service
  • Committed to fostering safe spaces for all with ability to respect and accommodate stakeholders


Minimum 3-4 hours per week. Various shifts available

Minimum 6-month commitment requested.

    Critical need for weekday coverage M-F between the hours of 8a-6p, specific shifts flexible
  • afternoon / 12:00 PM to 04:45 PM
