This position works alongside the ReStore staff to ensure all tools and equipment available to borrow from the Tool Library are clean and in full working order. This encourages an exemplary experience for the library members, by helping guarantee quality items are available for their use on a consistent & reliable basis. This in turn supports the longevity of the Tool Library program, and its goal of supporting stable housing through the availability of low or no cost tools for community homeowners to utilize in the maintenance of their homes.

Description

Greater Des Moines Habitat For Humanity is a locally operated affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold with no interest to those in need for the cost of the land and non donated materials at no profit.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of Habitat for Humanity. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we work to build affordable homes and hope in partnership with God and families in need.

There are many ways to become involved in Habitat's work. Volunteers can help in one or more of the following areas:

Construction & Rock the Block
ReStore
Office and Administrative
Committees
Facility Maintenance
Family Services


History: Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity has been serving the Greater Des Moines community since 1986. To date, the organization has helped move more than 150 adults and 350 children into the safety and stability of homeownership.
