Community Tax Aid NYC (CTA) is currently looking for a volunteer to help with Social Media & Publicity. This is a fully remote position.

The volunteer will engage with social media followers to provide updates about CTA (like meetings, training dates, etc) and tax updates relevant to our client base. Growing CTA’s social media presence is an objective.

The volunteer will also help seek out community groups and local politicians to inform them about our organization to help bring in new clients. This position/volunteer will be a key member of CTA’s Social Media & Publicity Committees and will raise the organization’s profile, social media presence, and grassroots donor base.

Duties will ideally include:

• Collaborate with the Social Media, Publicity, and Fundraising Committees to develop engaging content & broaden CTA’s profile
• Manage and create written content for CTAs Facebook and LinkedIn social media platforms
• Expand CTA’s taxpayer client base

Qualifications: The ideal volunteer will have an interest in strategic thinking skills in digital communications and nonprofit marketing and publicity practices. Excellent writing and communications skills. Previous experience with creating social media campaigns is extremely helpful. The volunteer should be a self-starter and independent learner. Volunteers who have strong interests in local community support and social justice are especially encouraged to join us.

Organization Description: Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA) is an independent, all-volunteer, non-profit, tax-exempt organization that has been preparing tax returns FREE for low-income taxpayers since 1969. Since its formation, the organization has prepared well over 100 thousand tax returns. CTA is dedicated to providing all services (federal, state, and local income tax forms) with the special needs and benefits of each taxpayer in mind. CTA never charges for its services and all clients must meet all income guidelines.

CTA is an ideal place to learn about the special tax needs for low-income clients in New York City and a great way to be involved in the local community.
