Dance Instructor

Overview:

We are looking for energetic and experienced Dance Instructors with a passion for working with youth between the ages of 8 and 18 years old. The instructor will prepare students to perform a routine as part of a showcase at the close of the semester.

Volunteer Duties:

• Assist in conducting classes for a group of children once or twice per week.
• Assist in curriculum development that outlines all lessons from week-to-week and materials needed to perform projects.
• Teach students dancing styles, postures, and positions during the class at the direction of the Dance Instructor.
• Prepare students for the virtual showcase performance in June 2022.
• Complete weekly session notes following each class.
• Regularly communicate with parents to provide updates on their child’s progress, reminders about upcoming sessions, materials list for individual sessions, and other communications as needed.
• Maintain consistent communication with program directors via email and participation in scheduled facilitator meetings to update on student progress, class attendance, etc.

Volunteer Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional dance experience
• Prior experience working with teens and young children is preferred
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills
• A degree or certification in Dance is a plus but not required
• Must be 18+ years old
