Alcoholics Anonymous is a 12-step peer support group. The meetings are made up of individuals in recovery who help each other to remain sober and avoid relapse. AA 12-step meetings provide moral support from individuals who have been there and can therefore offer advice and support based on personal experience and knowledge.
The ideal candidate for this opportunity is someone who is in recovery, completed the 12-steps, and wants to help others realize that they are not alone. If this is you, consider volunteering with adults who need help to safely detoxify from the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. Experience working in a residential treatment setting is a plus.
Flexible scheduling is available, but you should establish a set day/time of the week. Meetings are typically an hour in length.
Contact us (csbvolunteer@fairfaxcounty.gov) today if you are interested in volunteering with a fantastic group of community members.
