If you like playing an instrument and you like working with youth, this is the volunteer gig for you!

If you are a musician and are looking for ways to give back to the community, sign up to teach a one-on-one lesson with a student in our Titan Band or our Hope Jr. Program. We need instructors for all instruments. We work with elementary level band students during the day, while our after school program is primarily middle and high school students. Both programs are in East Garfield Park.

Whether you would like to teach 1 lesson every 6 months or would like to volunteer on a weekly basis, we would love to talk with you and figure out what might work!

About BANDWITH MUSIC LTD

Mission Statement

BandWith brings instrumental music instruction to underserved Chicago communities through band programs and instrumental music lessons.

Description

BandWith began when the funding for our band program in East Garfield Park was cut 5 years ago. That band program, the Titan Band, still exists today and is the model for future free BandWith programs in Chicago's underserved communities.
BandWith has band and string programs in 4 Chicago schools, but the Titan Band program is the only free program for its participants. Our fee-for-service programs help to subsidize the Titan Band program, allowing it stability and sustainability.
The Titan Band program provides instruments, books, a weekly lesson as well as an ensemble rehearsal to 50 elementary school aged students.
BandWith has a need for administrative volunteers to help us to continue to thrive and grow over time. We aim to add another free instrumental music program every other year.
We also welcome and could greatly use volunteers to share their musical talent and passion with our students in the form of music lessons. We are open to various schedules and levels of involvement.
We are a thriving organization today because of the kindness and support of our community and we welcome more such help as we strive to grow little by little in the years ahead.
