The American Red Cross brings light to one of the darkest times that any family will endure.
Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.
We are looking for compassionate individuals that want to help families that are affected by disasters of all sizes, from home fires to hurricanes. The bulk of our responses are home fires, which we respond to on average of 12 per day across the state of Georgia. We need people who are patient and are good listeners.
DAT Responders need to be able to do initial casework virtually, including over the phone and using video conferencing. We will provide training as to how to use the software, but you need to have access to a smartphone and or computer for this role and be comfortable with technology.
We need DAT responders who are willing to respond in person. All volunteers and employees will follow current Red Cross COVID-19 protocols.
Not every response will be the same so our volunteers must be able to adapt to change and conditions and execute requests from their lead with little or no supervision.
