Fort Point Artists Community

Fort Point Arts Community is looking for assistant volunteer gallery sitters for the FPAC Gallery at our 300 Summer Street building in Fort Point.

300 Summer (also known locally as "The Artist Building") is an artist-owned live/work cooperative. The artists' gallery space was named the best gallery in Boston in 2020 by Boston magazine. The gallery sitters would receive training from artists in residence (including information on gallery rules, art sales, and COVID guidelines).

This would be a fitting volunteer position for young artists and college students with a passion for the arts, or anyone interested in learning more about the inner workings of artist communities in Boston. Each volunteer would have a regular weekend shift based on their schedule for the duration of an exhibition.

The exhibition this December is Messaging Nature. Works by three artists depicting community, communication, and environmental health are on display.

About Fort Point Artists Community

300 Summer Street, M1, Boston, MA 02210, US

Mission Statement

The Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC) builds cultural vibrancy in Boston by cultivating an empowered community of artists, organizations, and supporters. FPAC promotes the work of our artists to a broad and diverse audience, advocates for art opportunities, develops permanent, affordable live-work studio space and ensures that art is an essential part of the life of a creative city.

Open Studios
Since 1978 , Fort Point artists have opened their studios to the public during the third weekend in October. The Open Studios Weekend attracts about 2,500 visitors to our neighborhood. This event offers the public a rare glimpse into the living and working spaces of artists, while providing a valuable opportunity for artists to sell their work.

During the Open Studios weekend the FPAC Gallery hosts a group show for FPAC members. The Group Show allows visitors to see a sample of the work of many different artists in one place, while also giving members who are not able to open their studios an opportunity to be represented.

Open Studios is a festive event for the artists involved. It is a time for them to celebrate after months of preparation and hard work, as well as to reaffirm their vitality and strength as a community in the face of so many changes and challenges.
