Volunteer mentors are the foundation of our organization. After completing our 2-hour mentor training, and a 2-hour Mentoring for Equity Workshop, mentors are paired with a student virtually via Zoom at one of our 12 locations. Mentors are given all the resources they’ll need to run a successful session with their student partner.

Sessions include reading, online literacy activity/games, and lots of time to grow/nurture a friendship. Mentoring sessions will last between 30 - 45 minutes long depending on your student partner's energy levels. Session include 4 core parts - Energize and Goal setting, Reading, Literacy Game/Activity, and Closing and Reflection time. Our experienced staff are present the entire session in case a mentor has a question or needs some assistance. We will run a background check for every volunteer.

*** We are looking for consistent Weekly Mentors that can support 1x or 2x (preferred) a week thru the end of May 2024.

*** High School students are also eligible to become mentors. We are more than happy to offer community service hours for any academic requisites.
