Standby Volunteers Desperately Needed!

Ace of Hearts

We're looking for passionate people to help our furry friends out by being standby volunteers!

What is a Standby Volunteer?

Impact: We could not survive without the invaluable support of its volunteers. Even if you are unable to adopt or foster a dog, don't fret! There are plenty of ways to turn your passion for animals into much-needed assistance.

A lot of our wonderful wagging friends require medication and trips to veterinary clinics to ensure they're happy and healthy - with your help we can ensure these pups never go without everything they need for that good quality of life!

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: A standby volunteer is someone who is able to help out our furry friends on short notice - you would provide us with a schedule in advance of the days and times you'd be available to help throughout the week!

Tasks could include freedom rides, supply distribution, and even taking the pups to and from their veterinary appointments, and anything inbetween in case of an emergency.

You can even let us know what activities you'd prefer!

Requirements: We do require that our volunteers be at least 18 years of age. We also require that our volunteers to have a vehicle and valid driver's license. Lastly, simply being available for us to call on you whenever we need assistance (within the previously agreed upon times that you'd be available!) is also a great way to lend a hand. Become a volunteer for Ace of Hearts and help us continue to save and improve the lives of our amazing furry friends.

Additional Information: Being a standby volunteer helps us reach out to volunteers with availability that day instead of calling our entire volunteer list. If there is a day, half a day, or even a few hours you can volunteer to be placed on a "call in case of an emergency" list, let us know! This can be for many different tasks, and almost always requires some driving.

These are some of our recent rescues - you may just be helping out one of these precious pups!

A majestic pooch who might just be the friendliest dog on the planet!

Nothing can faze this gentleman - not even nippy pups will make him lose his calm and collected nature.

Due to a sun spot on Coconut's hind area his coat has been shaved and he's looking a little more like a lamb at the moment, but he's still the happy-go-lucky dog we rescued from the shelter!

Found as a stray and taken to a high-kill shelter we were very fortunate to be able to find and rescue this sweet guy!

He's a little timid when meeting new people, but he's a loving guy who doesn't take long to open up - he just needs some time away from the shelter to really settle back in to being himself again.

This sweet, senior sweetheart is a tough girl who's been through a lot - Hickory was taken to a high-kill shelter with a large mass on her front leg.

Fortunately for us and our new furry friend we were able to rescue her and now she's going to be getting all of the love and care she needs.

Our awesome volunteers can help ensure Hickory always has a ride to her appointments and that she's getting all of the medication she needs!

Questions? Please reach out to us if you believe you could assist us at any point throughout the week - we always need the support of our wonderful volunteers and we couldn't make any of this happen without you!

About Ace of Hearts

PO Box 11693 San Vicente Blvd #130, BEVERLY HILLS, CA 90213, US

Mission Statement

We are a 501c-3 dog rescue foundation dedicated to rescuing dogs, the day they are to be euthanized, from various Los Angeles shelters and placing them in loving homes. We do NOT take dogs in ... we rescue only from shelters. The Ace of Hearts Foundation is in memory of "Ace", a wonderful American Bull dog who was rescued from death, and touched the lives of many! (Especially founder Kari Whitman!) We rescue all breeds...and don't discriminate against any!

Love dogs? Looking to help out and make some new friends along the way?

We need Standby Volunteers daily!

Emergency Volunteers/Stand By's

This may seem like the least helpful, but actually our stand-by's always save us & the dogs! We need you!

You give us the days and times you are available and we add you to a list. Then, if something comes up that day- you will be the first one we call. This helps us reach out to volunteers with availability that day instead of calling our entire volunteer list. If there is a day, half a day, or even a few hours you can volunteer to be placed on a "call in case of an emergency" list, let us know! This can be for many different tasks, and almost

always requires some driving. We try very hard to plan things in advance, but if there is a last minute opportunity to save a life, get a dog adopted, or a foster emergency, it helps to have a handful of people we reach out to first!

We are in desperate need of standby volunteers!

Can't help with this but still want to volunteer? We can always use extra hands:

-Emergency fosters

-Long term fosters

-Temp tests for dogs in shelters

-Transporters (taking dogs to appointments/park/foster)

-Event volunteers

-House check volunteers
