Neuro Diverse Living (NDL) is looking for a copywriter to work pro bono in supporting our mission to provide safe and sustainable lifelong housing options for adults with autism or other intellectual developmental disabilities through our neuroinclusive and neurodiverse cohousing communities.

We are actively confronting the unique and unmet housing needs and challenges higher-functioning autistic adults and other at-risk individuals face when their parents can no longer care for them. The alternative can be heartbreaking. Instead, we provide neuro-inclusive 'smart-home enabled' cohousing communities for this underserved population, allowing them to not only live as independently as possible but seek meaningful employment and be an integral and active part of their local community.

Role Description

We are seeking a copywriter to focus on content, blog posts and social media copy creation. Refine and advance our content plan and create effective copy that will resonate with our audience within the neuroinclusive and neurodiverse cohousing community. Help build our content calendar, as well as determine sources for content generation. Will require internet research to identify content we can build upon. You will be working with the NDL Executive Director, Marketing Strategist and Social Media Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES * Write advertising copy using keywords in collaboration with the marketing team. Build our content calendar. Determine sources for content creation. Edit content produced by the team. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum volunteer hours expected 4-6 hours per week
  • Bachelor's degree required in English or Journalism.
  • Marketing background preferred with at least 2 years professional experience as a copywriter. Knowledge of online content strategy and creation.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Native English speaker.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with Word and project management tools such as ClickUp.
Affords the opportunity to join our Advisory Board and be considered for a paid position.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to offer adults with autism or other intellectual developmental disabilities the opportunity to live as independently as possible by providing safe and secure neuro-inclusive cohousing communities with built-in amenities, meaningful employment opportunities, and natural support systems, and to give their parents and aging caregivers peace of mind that they will never have to worry about their children being alone or isolated.

Description

As parents of adult sons with autism, we know the challenges faced by this population. Our short-term goal is to acquire single-family homes for 3 or more individuals with the appropriate level of individualized support. Our long-term goal is to develop co-housing communities capable of caring for dozens of neurodiverse individuals. In this way, we will provide viable lifelong housing options that address the economic constraints and daily living requirements these individuals face when they are on their own.
