Help Fenster Nature Park, Salmon, and the Orcas by maintaining and restoring the shores of the Green River!

Join Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group, Green River Coalition, and the City of Auburn to spread mulch, remove non-native invasive species, and plant native trees and shrubs at Fenster Nature Park, in Auburn from 10 am-2 pm. Spreading mulch helps maintain moisture around native plants and reduces the opportunity for invasive plants to regrow. Native trees help shade the river for cooler water for salmon, provide fresh clean air, and beautify our parks! Be a part of your community, give back, and meet new people.

The event will begin with a brief discussion that includes information about the site, the partnering organizations, why this work is important, tool use, and safety. We will provide work gloves, all instructions, and all tools. Please plan to arrive on time for the start of the event and allow extra time to find parking.

Please sign up directly with VolunteerMatch!

Location:

Mission Statement

Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group works to involve local people in projects that will ensure a future for wild salmon.

Description

Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group is dedicated to helping landowners and communities protect their local fish. We practice fisheries and stream restoration in the King and Kitsap Counties in Washington State. Our service area includes the Green/Duwamish River watershed, the Lake Washington/Cedar River watershed, isolated streams flowing into Puget Sound in King County, and all watersheds in eastern Kitsap County. We use habitat restoration projects - such as streamside fencing, native tree planting, and fish passage improvements - as catalysts to building community partnerships. As one of 14 Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups in Washington State, we are part of a coordinated effort to restore fish habitat in the state.
