Hospice Friendly Visitor Volunteers Needed

If you reside in Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County or the Main Line area we have volunteer opportunities near your home or office.

Hospice volunteers provide social support to hospice patients while providing respite for their caregivers. One of the greatest gift you can share during this difficult time is simply your time and your willingness to listen. A typical visit might include: listening to patient’s stories, reading, watching TV or playing a game with the patient. It might mean sitting in quiet presence while the caregiver takes some needed respite. For more information and to learn how you can help, please reach out to Penn Medicine Hospice’s Volunteer Department at PMatHomeVolunteerDepartment@Pennmedicine.upenn.edu

About Penn Medicine Hospice

Mission Statement

Penn Medicine Hospice's mission is to comfort and support patients and families who are experiencing a life-limiting illness. We accomplishes this through service, educating the public and the healthcare community about hospice principles and practices, and continuing to evaluate and modify hospice policies and services.

Description

Our holistic philosophy takes a pro-active approach to pain and symptom management and recognizes that pain extends beyond the physical. We address the symptoms of each patient's illness as well as the emotional and spiritual concerns of the patient, caregiver and family - assisting patients and loved ones with the challenges that come with death and dying.

Hospice care provides a way for patients to take control of their life and treatment, encouraging them to take an active role in the important medical and legal decisions that affect them and those around them. Our multidisciplinary hospice team provides a wide range of care and support, allowing patients to live out their final months comfortably, in control, and with the dignity and respect they deserve.
