ORGANIZATION: Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc.

Volunteer at a Mobile food rescue with sustainable catering services, a mobile gourmet soup kitchen, and a compost initiative that works with our communities to bridge the gaps between food waste, food insecurity, and sustainability. We model our organization on a "360 degree" circular economic structure to provide sustainable solutions aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources.

Volunteer Role: In need of volunteers to pick up and drive food for two locations then help glean the food to be prepared for meals



Lead the movement to end hunger, rallying our community together to create a healthier, more capable Tampa Bay and beyond.

Volunteer Role: Serving food to those most in need.

Volunteer Role: Help greeting and checking in clients.

Boxing and bagging food. Help unloading and stocking pantry on off days



Support and promote the welfare of the people of the St. Petersburg, Florida community by providing food pantry services and affordable housing

Volunteer Role: help divide up and distribute food at our community food pantry



Free, full service restaurant for those in need of a healthy meal today. 365 days a year, our chef prepares fresh, nutritious dishes for our guests.

Volunteer Role: Serving warm meal, seating people, cleaning up.

Description

Programs Offered Through Seniors in Service:


Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)

  • The Foster Grandparent Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into schools and after-school programs to mentor at-risk and special needs children and provide them with one-on-one, individualized attention


Senior Companion Program (SCP)

  • The Senior Companion Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into the homes of homebound, elderly clients and provide them with companionship and assistance.


Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

  • The RSVP Program recruits senior volunteers(55+) to participate more fully in the life of the community through volunteer service. The program matches the considerable wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience of this vital and rapidly growing age group with the addressing of critical needs and unresolved issues in our community.


Operation Veteran Connect

  • Provides companionship to veterans, enabling them to live independently. Supports the VA in supporting providing Whole Health support to veterans.
