When a military family member experiences an emergency where they require their service member to come home, they can call our Hero Care Network (HCN) to begin an emergency communication message (ECM) case. Once th e case is verified and the message is formatted and delivered to the service member’s command by the HCN , the regional follow up caseworker will review the case and follow up with the family contact to make sure c ommunication between the service member and their family is secured and assist the family with any further needs through referral services.
