ORGANIZATION: Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc.

Free Food Pantry

Location: Land O’Lakes

Volunteer role: Pantry Assistant

Days/Times: Fridays from 11:30AM-3PM

Duties: Stock groceries. Maintain cleanliness and neatness of assigned area. Assist shoppers with grocery selections. Take groceries to vehicles and help with loading if needed.

Requirements: Punctual and reliable attendance. Must be willing to follow directions. Must follow guidance from station coordinator and work well as a team player. Physical ability to stock inventory and to help load/unload rolling carts.

Training: Provided on-site

Feeding Tampa Bay

Location: Dade City

Volunteer role: Mobile Pantry Assistant

Days/Times:

Duties: Load food boxes into vehicles

Requirements: Physical ability to stand on feet for entire shift. Duties are performed outside with exposure to the elements. Must work well as a team player. Able to adhere to safety procedures as required. Able to follow directions.

Training: Provided on-site

Metropolitan Ministries
Location: East Pasco

Duties: Volunteers needed for Thursday afternoons in the pantry and clothing department to assist residents in transitional housing.

Location: New Port Richey Brown Bag Program: Drivers needed to deliver meals to homebound seniors in West Pasco. Meals on Wheels East Pasco: Drivers and riders needed to deliver meals to homebound seniors in the Zephyrhills area.

Description

Programs Offered Through Seniors in Service:


Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)

  • The Foster Grandparent Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into schools and after-school programs to mentor at-risk and special needs children and provide them with one-on-one, individualized attention


Senior Companion Program (SCP)

  • The Senior Companion Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into the homes of homebound, elderly clients and provide them with companionship and assistance.


Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

  • The RSVP Program recruits senior volunteers(55+) to participate more fully in the life of the community through volunteer service. The program matches the considerable wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience of this vital and rapidly growing age group with the addressing of critical needs and unresolved issues in our community.


Operation Veteran Connect

  • Provides companionship to veterans, enabling them to live independently. Supports the VA in supporting providing Whole Health support to veterans.
