ORGANIZATION: Mclaren Homecare Group - Hospice

McLaren Hospice is seeking dedicated individuals who would like to make a difference in the lives of McLaren Hospice patients who are faced with an advanced illness. Training is provided and medical experience is not necessary.

Services may include:

  • Friendly visits with our hospice patients and family
  • Listening to patient reminisce
  • Reading to patient
  • Respite support for caregiver by sitting with patient as family takes a break
  • Light housekeeping
  • Assisting with running errands, letter writing

Additionally, we are looking for volunteers with special talents like:

  • Trained therapy dogs
  • Musically inclined and would like to share musical gifts
  • Interest in clerical or office work

Patients are located in Port Huron and throughout the Port Huron area including Fort Gratiot, Clyde, Marysville, Richmond, New Haven, Yale, Emmett, Port Sanilac and St. Clair.

Description

Volunteers are the heart of hospice: They provide respite, companionship and support to terminally ill patients and their families. These small token of support are needed and greatly appreciated by patients and their families.
