ORGANIZATION: Human Services Center Mon Valley

Looking to give back in 2022? Join us as a Free Tax Prep volunteer at the Human Services Center Corporation (HSCC)!

Volunteers are needed to greet taxpayers as they arrive at the HSCC tax site. The site helps low to moderate income working families make the most of their tax refunds by providing free federal, state, and local income tax preparation assistance.

Prospective volunteers will undergo FREE training to ensure they meet the IRS guidelines. NO prior experience is needed! HSCC will provide in-person tax preparation in 2022. These services will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week, beginning February 1, 2022 through April 14, 2022. HSCC follows COVID-19-related safety precautions, including social distancing measures, masking, sanitization, and plexiglass dividers to keep both volunteers and taxpayers safe.

What we’re looking for from volunteers:

  • 4-hour commitment per week to greet taxpayers {morning, afternoon, and evening shift times available}
  • Act 33 and Act 34 clearances {free for volunteers}
  • Attend quick and simple trainings
  • Successful completion of the Volunteer Ethics quiz and Intake/Interview/Quality Review quiz
  • Prompt, organized, self-directed, and detail-oriented
  • Passion for community service

If you, or someone you know, might be interested in becoming a free tax preparation volunteer at the HSCC, please contact Stephanie Eson ( seson@hscc-mvpc.org) or 412-437-8229.
