Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigrant Services provides Citizenship and English language classes to immigrants who are refugees or asylees and seeking to become US citizens.
Volunteers can assist help program participants in one of two ways: provide small-group classroom instruction using the established curriculum or provide one-on-one tutoring to participants in need of additional individualized support.
Classroom instruction will be provided in-person. The use of face masks is optional and room will be allowed for social distancing. One-on-one tutoring can be done virtually or in-person.
Refugee and Immigrant Services is a program of Catholic Charities Indianapolis, an affiliate of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and a member of CLINIC (Catholic Legal Immigration Network, INC). Staff and volunteers are called to uphold the dignity of all people. Guided by Catholic social teaching, we consider it a privilege to deliver compassionate and caring service to help and empower those in need. Since 1975, RIS has resettled over 20,000 refugees in the Indianapolis area.

In 2019-20, Catholic Charities Indianapolis programs served over 69,000people. Among those served, the majority are women and children, who live below the federal poverty level. Through the generosity of our donors and volunteers we can provide quality services to more individuals and families in need.
