ORGANIZE TENNESSEE

Poll Observers are essential to defending our democracy. As a Poll Observer, you have the opportunity to ensure that no voter feels as though the system isn't made for them. By working with Organize Tennessee, you receive training and resources to flag any voter protection issues that occur at your assigned polling place. As you report, Organize Tennessee is standing by and working with a group of volunteer lawyers to resolve and document each issue. We ensure you have training, resources, and support you need to protect as many voters as possible.

Mission Statement

Organize Tennessee combats voter suppression and protects every Tennessee voter before, during, and after Election Day.

Description

Our democracy is in the danger zone- especially in Tennessee. The south has seen a drastic increase in obstacles to voting, strict voter ID laws, and misinformation about our elections. Now, more than ever, voter protection and nonprofits like Organize Tennessee. By training voter protection volunteers and prioritizing voter education, we can ensure that every ballot is cast and counted, and that our voices are being heard. Led by Tennesseans, Organize Tennessee has seen it get increasingly harder to vote, and as a Black Tennessean, Executive Director Renee Parker Sekander has even struggled to cast a vote herself. When she voted in her first election, she want and needed a nonprofit to have her back- and that very need is the driving force for Organize Tennessee. So far, we have trained a coalition of 190 Poll Observers, over 100 lawyers through our CLE, and have protected polling locations across the state.

We're building a necessary election protection infrastructure in the state of Tennessee, and we're just getting started. It's up to each and every one of us to protect our democracy, and to show the people in power that the people are in power. Join our movement to protect every Tennessee voter.
