-Recruits sites to offer placements in the program.
-Works with and assists practicum agencies as needed to establish practicum descriptions for students.
-Reviews all student applications, performs initial screening, and facilitates the interview and selection process.
-Communicates with either party throughout the duration of the placement (if required) and promotes a satisfactory working relationship between the student, practicum site, and the institution instructor.
-Tracks placement progress through methods such as supervisor evaluations and reflective assignments.
-Assigns a pass/fail (credit/no credit) grade for the program.
-Seeks and integrates feedback from students and supervisors to improve the Practicum program.

Mission Statement

Youth Achieve provides free of cost aid to students in carving a path to success by offering academic consultancy and career navigation from trusted mentors. Our mentors consist of current post-secondary students who are willing to share their experiences as former students, helping mentees understand student life challenges and the secrets to success.

Description

  • Provide one-on-one tailored mentorship to immigrant high school students.
  • Career navigation and assistance in applying for volunteers. In addition to interviewing help, upon the need of the student.
  • Program guidance will be provided if the student is unsure about their field of interest.
  • Interactive workshops will be provided, to promote interpersonal skills and leadership development.
  • Students will be given a chance to apply the skills through developing a small independent community project with their mentor.
