Animal Care: This role combines the fun of playing with dogs and puppies and the necessary cleaning
that they require. This will include scooping poop, cleaning messy blankets, bathing dirty
puppies, and other messy tasks. But after all the mess is cleaned, the remaining time will
be used walking, playing with, enriching, and snuggling with our fuzzy guests.

Qualification: Age 18+

Dog walkers must be able to independently walk large breed dogs.

Onsite Volunteer: This role is essential to functioning as an open adoption building. You will be in charge of cheerfully greeting guests and helping direct their questions to the proper channels. This may include accepting donations and putting them away in the building, helping discuss volunteer options, as well as some light cleaning tasks in the front half of the building, such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows from the puppy nose art. A cheat-sheet of this information will be provided. In down time, puppy snuggles will be provided.

Mission Statement

Second City Canine Rescue’s mission is to rescue homeless animals and responsibly place them into permanent, loving homes. We believe in "rescuing responsibly."

Description

SCCR is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is largely volunteer-operated, and supported by a small but mighty staff. Our organization is dedicated to serving homeless dogs of Chicagoland, as well as branching out to other areas, such as Alabama and Kentucky, wherever homeless dogs & puppies need us! SCCR does not discriminate, and we strive for inclusivity. All breeds, ages, sizes, and colors are welcomed, celebrated and loved--the same goes for our Adopters!
