  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Energetic, outgoing, and friendly, with enthusiasm and interest in being a role model for our future,
  • Strong desire to interact with the public and assist guests from diverse backgrounds,
  • Being courteous, professional, patient, and respectful at all times
  • Able to succeed in a sometimes crowded, noisy environment
  • Comfortable working independently, as well as within a team environment
  • Present a professional appearance
  • Excellent communication skills and can act with diplomacy and tact
  • Comfortable with public speaking, or interest in gaining this skill

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet and welcome guests and groups, answering questions and informing them of TCMU rules, as needed.
  • Direct guests to programs, pop-up events, and other key points of interest
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures (as needed)
  • Stay knowledgeable of current exhibitions, programs, and events
  • Be knowledgeable of safety and emergency procedures
  • Be evaluated and respond positively to constructive feedback.
  • Attend mandatory orientation and trainings.
  • Offer constructive feedback about the museum, exhibits, programs, and guest experiences to maximize knowledge of continued betterment.

KEY ROLES:

  • Program Support: Engage in interactive, hands-on learning with guests across all TCMU Programs; Art Studio, steamWORKS, Storytime and more, and Healthy Hustle.
  • Scavenger Hunt Leader: Handout and help guests find all the hidden items around the museum to receive a prize! But... be sure not to give away any answers!
  • Front of Museum (FOM) Coordinator: Greet guests upon entrance and guide them through the check-in process.
  • TCMU Store: Keeping the store tidy, supporting purchases, encouraging guests to explore and engage with accessible toys/items.
  • Birthday Party Support: Support birthday parties by checking in guests and directing them to their assigned room.
  • POP-up Leader: Interact and lead a specific activity within the museum to enhance guests' experience!
  • General/Prep Support: Support the entire museum with a variety of day-of tasks; may include stocking, prepping crafts, and supporting administrative tasks
  • Floor Rotations: Rotate through the museum to ensure safety of guests, answering questions, and enforcing policies and protocols.

  • Exhibit Educators: Facilitate learning opportunities within the assigned exhibit (Museum Guide serves as a reference tool).
  • Information Specialist: Inform guests of a variety of extensions within and outside of the museum: Events, Birthday Parties, Programs, Field Trips, Volunteers, Career Opportunities

TIME COMMITMENT: Junior Ambassadors are asked for a minimum service commitment of six months, with 10 or more hours per month (no less than 60 hours). Additionally, Junior Ambassadors must attend all training sessions.

TRAINING: All ambassadors participate in the "New Ambassador Orientation." New Junior Ambassadors attend Classroom Training and Floor Training, as well as shadow experienced Ambassadors or a TCMU Programs Associate for their first one or two shifts to gain comfort with the tasks and procedures.

**TCMU Ambassador through Leadership (AtL) Program will be accepting applications and interviews July 2022 for the 2022-2023 year. This is a year long program including workshops and hands-on, interactive professional development training across prominent leaders locally and nationally known. 10 hour per month commitment is required.

It offers 18 interactive exhibits for guests of all ages, afterschool programming, special events, birthday parties, and public hours programming in the areas of art, science, health, fitness, nutrition, woodworking, and early childhood education.
