Our mission at Steps Foundation, Inc is to empower and improve the quality of life for each individual we meet. We do that by providing life skills workshops, retreats, community networking, and providing scholarships to students. Steps Foundation is an organization that focuses on family engagement, empowerment, youth leadership and youth development.

While our Board of Directors does have virtual board meetings, we do have a lot of in-person engagements. We're certainly looking for people in the Central Florida area to be a part of our team.

Functions

Steps Foundation, Inc’s Board of Directors is responsible for defining and upholding the organization’s mission, vision, and values, and for providing overall leadership and strategic direction to the organization. In addition to setting policies and maintaining the nonprofit’s overall direction, the board establishes priorities, crafts strategies, and ensures that plans and programs are implemented. Board members are also involved in Step’s Foundation Inc’s fundraising efforts, spreading the word about our good work and using their connections to gain access to potential donors, actively participating in fundraising campaigns, and making their own personal donations.

Responsibilities

  • Organization
    • Ensure that Step’s Foundation, Inc is run in an ethical and legal manner, and implement good governance practices that establish accountability.
    • Support, provide direction to, and work with the Executive Director to create a strategic direction for Step’s Foundation, Inc and to set short and long term goals and policies.
    • Assure that management continuity is properly provided.
    • Approve appropriate compensation and benefit policies and practices.
    • Annually evaluate the performance of the Executive Director.
    • Annually review and evaluate the performance of the Board of Directors and take steps to improve its performance.
  • Board Participation
    • Attend at least 75% of board meetings and board activities.
    • Actively participate on at least one committee.
    • Participate as a paying guest at the Scholarship Gala.
  • Community Outreach
    • When with an appropriate audience (i.e. potential donors or visitors), Step’s Foundation, Inc should be at the top of your list when talking about your community involvement at a cocktail party, networking event, etc.

Description

We provide family engagement, empowerment, youth development and youth leadership opportunities for students. Our foundation started in December 2019, and since then we have combined our efforts with multiple community partners whose mission aligns with ours to help create change within our community. We want to help families engage in healthy conversations, especially when it comes to tough topics, we want students to be prepared for life after high school so that they can be efficient, we want to engage students in leadership opportunities where they can teach their peers things that they learn and also learn how to advocate for causes that are near and dear to them. We provide career development skills and opportunities for parents, college students, and high school students.
