This volunteer facilitates visitor experiences throughout the museum space under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers will move throughout common areas (museum entrance, mezzanine, and elevator bays) to help direct visitors to exhibit hall, elevators, stairways, ramp, entrances/exits, and/or guest services. Volunteer will become familiar with the layout of the museum to quickly and efficiently direct visitors as needed or answer inquiries.

4 Shifts

  • 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM
  • 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM
  • 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM
  • 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM

Description

Discovery Lab is an educational resource for Tulsa providing outreach museum classes to area schools and organizations, and as a field trip destination to over 20,000 students each year. Exhibits and programming encourage the development of executive function and process skills, including critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, and innovation. Educational content focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM), and health and wellness, and complements and supplements current school curriculum. Studies show that hands-on, informal learning experiences, like those delivered by Discovery Lab, impact reading readiness and school success.
