Expanding Horizons After-School Facilitator
In this role, volunteers will design and lead a 9-11 week session in an area of expertise to provide an opportunity for students to explore an area of interest such as physical health, design, the arts, civic engagement, and science/sustainability.
Mondays & Wednesdays OR Tuesday & Thursdays from 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
VOLUNTEERS should be interested in education and ideally have some experience teaching or coaching. Although it is not required, it would be helpful to be bilingual in English and Spanish and have a background in education, English as a Second Language (ESL), or social work.
Expanding Horizons is an after-school program currently partnered with Salem’s Collins Middle School. Participating middle school students engage in project-based enrichment experiences while working on building critical thinking skills and healthy relationships with each other and adults.
All in-person opportunities require strict adherence to LEAP’s health and safety protocols, which have been implemented for operation during the pandemic.

- All LEAP programs are built on the foundation of trust between students and adults. As such, volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of two hours per week for an entire three-month session.
- While volunteers are not required to speak Spanish, it would be helpful to be bilingual in English and Spanish. It is asked that volunteers are patient with multilingual language students and are enthusiastic about experiencing other cultures.
