Expanding Horizons students in programming

In this role, volunteers help students explore interests in areas such as art, photography, design, culinary, fitness, and technology. Additionally, volunteers will provide assistance with homework and help facilitate games and activities at the start and end of the program. Volunteers who are not able to participate for the whole afternoon session are welcome to work with students for part of the program day.

Mondays & Wednesdays OR Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

VOLUNTEERS should be interested in education and comfortable interacting with middle school students. Although it is not required, it would be helpful to be bilingual in English and Spanish and have a background in education, English as a second language (ESL), or social work.

Expanding Horizons is an after-school program currently partnered with Salem’s Collins Middle School. Participating middle school students engage in project-based enrichment experiences while working on building critical thinking skills and healthy relationships with each other and adults.
