Cat Care Assistant
We are looking for volunteers to assist our care staff with providing a clean and sanitized environment for our feline population at Animal Care League! Cat Care Assistants need to be hard-working individuals who want to clean cat rooms, brush cat trees, scoop litter boxes, refill supplies, and assist with cat feedings. This vital position requires you to be able work independently, bend and squat down, and stand for long periods of time. If you are interested in providing daily support to our feline friends, this is the position for you!

Main shelter: 1011 Garfield, Oak Park, IL. 60304
Availability:
Monday-Sunday
8 AM - 11 AM
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Available to all volunteer levels
- Attend our New Volunteer Orientation
- Must be able to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19
- Possess a basic understanding of cat behavior
- Possess the ability to follow direction
- Must be able to work independently with no supervision
- Enjoys interacting with shelter cats
- Able to lift and carry at least 15 lbs
- Must be able to bend, squat, and stand for extended periods
- Must be respectful toward cats and people
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Change/scoop litter boxes
- Wash/sanitize litter boxes and then dry/put away
- Wipe off shelves and cat hide boxes
- Change out blankets, beds, and toys
- Brush cat trees
- Replace water bowls
- Sweep and mop cat rooms
- Assist with feeding as needed

- morning / 08:30 AM to 10:30 AM

The Animal Care League is a limited admission shelter located in Oak Park. We help homeless cats, dogs and other small animals by providing them food, shelter, medical attention and love until we can find them a loving home. As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we depend on the generosity of our communities to help us meet our goals of finding new homes for as many animals as possible each year.
