Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity
Eliminating poverty housing one family at a time.

Hi, Laurie Dean Wiley here. As a Board Member for the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, I am thrilled that we are once again building awareness and fundraising for Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity. These funds support the mission of Habitat in our local community. Plans with the Mavericks have been made and several exciting opportunities have left us with a "good" problem. We need additional volunteers! As we look to raise $50,000 and to welcome more than 30 entries, for prizes in a number of categories, we are seeking to add businesses, service organizations, and churches as sponsors or "builders" of Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays 2021. We need your help. If not you, who do you know that you can forward this email to, with a supporting nod to us, and a request for that individual to get involved?

What is needed, you ask? Volunteers are needed for a short-term commitment; Begins now and we finish most work before December gets really busy, and plan to celebrate in January. Volunteer help is critically needed for the following:

  • Attend either in person or via zoom the events committee meeting each Tuesday, beginning at 5pm. We will not keep you more than an hour most weeks. The next meeting is November 2. Just email nbonfield@trumanhabitat.org and we will get you on the email list.
  • Put November 6, and November 30, on your calendar. These are the dates that we will be "working" with the Mavericks at a hockey game.
  • Help raise awareness with those you KNOW and GAIN their entry into our Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays 2021 event by:
    • Sharing our posters, flyers, and 3x3 cards with in-person visits at 8 businesses, service organizations, and churches in the Eastern Jackson County area. Businesses entry fee is $250. Partnerships begin at $500. I have included the link to enter and the Sponsorship information with this email. (*We are using Google Docs to make sure we share who is on our individual lists so we don't seek out the same organizations/individuals).
    • Gaining commitment from 3 of these businesses, service organizations, or churches to participate as builders or better yet, as sponsors which includes an entry into the contest. Service Organizations and churches entry fee is only $50.
  • I invite you to join our Gingerbread House Holiday contest yourself. Put your team together or make it a family event. Family entry fee is only $10.
